Ball State's Greg Herceg and Matt Leske earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors as voted on by a panel of conference SID's. This is Leske's second time earning the award, with the first recognition coming on January 21, 2013.
Herceg, a senior outside hitter, connected on a career-high 25 kills in the five-set win over Grand Canyon and followed that performance up with 18 kills the next day. Herceg also netted a double-double with 12 digs in the Saturday match vs. Grand Canyon. Herceg's 25 kills was his third match of the season with 20 or more kills and the senior has hit double digit kills six out of nine matches this season.
Leske, a junior middle blocker, tied his career high in assisted blocks with eight in the Saturday match up with Grand Canyon. The middle attacker also got under a career-high four digs in that match. He was credited with two solo blocks in each of the matches against Grand Canyon and had a 1.75 blocks per set average this past weekend. Leske's 10 total blocks on Feb. 9 was the second time this season he has collected double-digit blocks.
