Freshman Andy Sellan and senior Grayson Overman earned MIVA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for their play for the week of January 7 through January 13.
Sellan led IPFW with 22 kills over the weekend in matches against Saint Francis and Cardinal Stritch. He hit .471 as he only committed six errors on 34 total attacks for the weekend. His best match came against Cardinal Stritch, where he recorded 12 kills on 16 attempts in just two sets. He also recorded three digs in the match against Cardinal Stritch.
The freshman jumped into the starting lineup for each match and responded with two service aces, five blocks, three digs, and an assist.
Overman led the Buckeye defense this weekend at the Outrigger Invitational in Honolulu with 18 overall blocks for a 1.38 average over 13 sets played. In the team's first-ever win over host Hawai'i, Overman totaled a match-high six blocks in five sets. He followed with a team-best six blocks in the close 3-2 loss to No. 5 UCLA Friday and then finished with two solo and four block assists for a match-high six blocks in the 3-0 loss to Penn State Saturday. His three six-block performances tied a season-high and his two solo blocks were also a season-high.
Overman has started in all four matches for the Buckeyes and leads the team with 21 total blocks through four matches, averaging 1.31 blocks per set.
