Lewis' Geoff Powell and Ohio State's Brennan Anderson have been named the MIVA Offensive and Defense Players of the Week after their play this past week.
Powell, a redshirt sophomore outside hitter from Claremont, Calif. picked up the start of the season where he left off last season, leading the Flyers in kills all three matches at the UCSB Asics Invitational. He led the No. 5 Lewis Flyers with 16 kills against No. 15 California Baptist and recorded a career-high 26 kills against UC San Diego. For the weekend, Powell recorded 49 kills at 4.08 kills per set this past week.
Powell finished last season second on the team in kills with 223, averagine 2.51 per set.
Anderson, a sophomore libero, notched a career-high 12 digs in Ohio State's 3-0 win over Saint Francis Saturday. The dig total led all student-athletes on the night. In addition, Anderson successfully passed all 18 serves faced and added a career-best three assists in the win.
