Hawks Fall To Ranked Flyers
The Quincy University men's volleyball team was unable to pull
off a second straight come from behind win as they fell on the road
to #15 ranked Lewis University 3-2.
The Hawks dropped the first two sets of the match before rallying
to even the match up and send it to a fifth set. However the Hawks
came up short in the final set and fell 25-15, 25-13, 21-25, 20-25
and 15-10. Quincy's offense struggled all match long hitting just
.165 with 45 kills and 27 errors while Lewis finished with a team
hitting percentage of .327 with 56 kills and 20 errors.
Quincy did not reach double figures in kills in either of the first
two sets but finally got on track in the third set. The Hawks hit
.318 in the set with 10 kills and pulled away late from the Flyers
scoring five of the final seven points. The Hawks offense was
finally clicking in the fourth set, hitting .417, with a match high
17 kills.
However after playing even early on in the fifth set the home
Flyers pulled away with a 5-1 run mid-way through and were able to
hold on for the win. Joseph Sokol led Quincy with 17 kills while
Andrew
Ouano added 38 assists.
