Sensational Hawks Win Seventh Straight

The Quincy University men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to seven games in a 3-1 win on the road over Carthage College on Friday night. The Hawks took down the #3 D-III ranked Red Men 25-23, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-17.

For the second straight night the Hawk offense was nearly unstoppable, hitting .352 as a team with 56 kills and just 19 attack errors. Quincy recorded double digit kills in all four games while their total of 56 on the night are the third most this season by the team. The Hawks hit .250 in the first game, their lowest of any set of the match but bounced back by hitting over .400 in both the second and fourth sets.

Quincy edged out Carthage in the first set by just two points and picked up a win in the second set with relative ease. However leading in the third set the Hawks were unable to finish off the home team. Quincy did not falter though and pounded out 15 kills in the final set to finish off the Red Men.

Three Hawks finished with double digits in kills as Joseph Ascher led the way with 16 kills. Joseph Sokol added 13 kills while Steven Battaglia finished with 10 kills and no errors in just 12 attempts for a hitting percentage of .833 in the match. Andrew Ouano set up the Hawk offense nicely on the night and finished with 47 assists while Tanner Wright added 11 digs. The Hawks finished with six service aces and eight total team blocks with Kyle Volstad recording five block assists while adding nine kills.

The Hawks seven match winning streak is their longest in program history. They are now 15-8 overall, already matching last season's win total. The Hawks will now have nearly two weeks off before they return to the court. They will come back with four consecutive home matches beginning March 24th against Lindenwood University.
