Mike Iandolo And Nathan Klaas Earn Preseason All-MIVA Nods
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Senior setter Mike Iandolo (Orlando, Fla./Long Beach State) and senior outside hitter Nathan Klaas (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) have been selected to the 2010 All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association preseason team, as voted on by the league's coaches.
Iandolo earned All-MIVA First Team honors last season thanks to leading the conference in assists per set (12.71). He finished with 1,169 assists and team-high 28 aces.
Klaas' 3.76 kills per set last season ranked second on the team and fourth in the conference. He had 22 matches of double-digit kills and earned MIVA Player of the Week honors on Jan. 27, 2009.
"The preseason recognition is well deserved for Mike and Nathan," head coach Dan Friend said. "The graduation of six seniors means we're going to look for even more from both of them this season."
The coaches voted Lewis to finish third in the preseason poll. Defending conference champion Ohio State earned the top spot with Ball State picked to finish second. Loyola was tabbed for fourth with IPFW, Grand Canyon and Quincy rounding out the poll.
Lewis opens the 2010 season on Jan. 15 against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
