Quincy Downed at Home by Lindenwood

(Quincy, Ill.) The Quincy University men's volleyball team was unable to pick up their second straight home win as they fell to visiting Lindenwood University 3-0 on Thursday night. Lindenwood got past Quincy 30-22, 30-22 and 30-23.

Lindenwood asserted themselves early in game one, going on an 8-3 run to open up a 17-11 lead. Lindenwood hit .400 in the game with 14 kills and just four attack errors while Quincy hit just .161 with 13 kills and eight attack errors. The Hawks offense did not fare any better in game two as they managed to hit a match low .059 with 11 kills and nine attack errors. Lindenwood's offense cooled off, hitting .281 in the game, but five service errors by Quincy handed the Lions the win.

Game three saw Quincy hit their highest attack percentage of the match, .194, with 10 kills and four attack errors but once again their serves were a downfall as they committed six service errors in the third game. Quincy was playing even with Lindenwood with the score tied at 11-11 and Lindenwood's #11 Mike Larson serving. Ryan Lehmann gave Quincy the lead and the serve with a kill off a set from Dan Dresen. The game was tied again at 15-15 with Quincy's #15 Kyle Volstad serving however the Lions rolled off three straight points and would lead the remainder of the game.

Quincy hit just .135 in the match with 34 kills and 21 attack errors while Lindenwood finished hitting .312 with 46 kills and 16 attack errors. Quincy committed 17 service errors in the match with just two service aces. Peter Coley led Quincy with eight kills while Dan Dresen finished with 30 assists and Tanner Wright added 12 digs. Quincy falls to 3-6 on the season and returns to action Saturday with a match against the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
