Loyola-Chicago's Bunting Repeats As MIVA Offensive Player Of The Week
CHICAGO (Jan. 25, 2009) - Loyola University Chicago sophomore Mike Bunting has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced this afternoon (Jan. 25). Bunting earns the award after posting his first career double-double in Loyola's 3-1 win over IPFW last Friday (Jan. 22).
Bunting recorded a match-high 24 kills, hitting .422 (24-5-45) against the Mastodons. He also added a career-high 10 digs, along with six blocks (1 solo, 5 assists), giving him 29.5 points for the match. The Wyomissing, Pa., native currently leads the league in kills/set (4.89) and points/set (5.89). He also leads the team in kills (44) and hit percentage (.405), and is tied for the team lead in service aces (4).
Bunting and the Ramblers open a busy week tomorrow night (Jan. 26) when they welcome MSOE to Alumni Gym. The match is set for 7 p.m. CT.
