Darryl Shank

Darryl Shank (London, Ont.), a 6-5 junior outside hitter for IPFW (7-8 overall, 2-5 MIVA), has been named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week for his play last week against Cardinal Stritch and Ohio State. In the 3-1 (30-27, 24-30, 30-20, 31-17) win over Cardinal Stritch, Shank had a match-high 34.5 points with 31 kills (.571), six digs and six (1-5) total blocks. He handled 24 serve reception attempts without an error in the match. Shank, in the 3-2 (30-26, 30-21, 29-31, 24-30, 15-12) loss to Ohio State, recorded a co-match-high of 24 kills while hitting .200. He handled 32 of 34 serve reception attempts. Shank added seven assist blocks and a team-high 14 digs. For the two matches, he averaged 6.9 points, 6.1 kills, 2.22 digs and .78 blocks per game while hitting .367. Shank had a .966 serve reception percentage in the two matches handling 56 of 58 attempts. He is the MIVA leader in kills (5.29) and points (5.93) per game in conference only statistics. This is the second offensive honor for Shank this season.
